Where do I get Lockdown Browser?
The CU version of Lockdown Browser can be downloaded here: http://www.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=666246493%C2%A0
You will also be prompted to download Lockdown Browser if you attempt to take a quiz that requires it. You cannot use a Lockdown Browser from another school, you must use the CommonwealthU Lockdown Browser.
iPad users can find Respondus Lockdown Browser in the App Store.
Chromebook users will get a link to download Lockdown Browser if they attempt to take a Lockdown Browser quiz.
How can I make sure that Lockdown Browser is working for my Final Exam?
We have step-by-step instructions HERE on how users can test Lockdown Browser at any time, by using the Lockdown Browser and Monitor Testing course.
I have a Mac...
For Mac users, we recommend that you do NOT make your regular browser (Safari or Chrome) full-screen before you launch Lockdown Browser. Sometimes this can cause strange issues because Lockdown Browser also needs to be full-screen.
Supported Mac OS versions are 11 (Big Sur) - 15 (Sequoia)
I have an iPad...
Please let your instructor know if you have an iPad and you will be taking a Respondus Monitor (webcam-enabled) test. Your instructor will need to add a special option to the test setup. If you are only taking a Lockdown Browser exam (without webcam monitoring) you do not need to do anything.
I have a Chromebook...
Troubleshooting for Chromebooks is located: HERE
Before an exam...
Please be sure your computer is fully changed, and it is often a good idea to restart prior to an exam.
It is a good idea to test Lockdown Browser on your computer 1 or 2 days before an exam, please see the instructions at the top of the page. If you run into any problems, please contact CATS at 570-389-2065 (leave a message) or email cats@commonwealthu.edu. CATS is available M-F, 9am-4pm.
During an exam...
If you lose network connection during an exam, do not panic. Do not continue answering questions, as your answers won't be saved, instead close Lockdown Browser (if prompted for a reason, just type "lost internet"), re-connect your wi-fi or restart your computer, and re-join your exam.
I need more help!
For help with Lockdown Browser and/or Respondus Monitor, please contact CommonwealthU Academic Technology & Support (CATS). CATS is available Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm.
We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you test Lockdown Browser PRIOR to your exam. Please contact CATS at 570-389-2065 and leave a message or email cats@commonwealthu.edu
