Connecting Android devices to campus wi-fi (Bloomsburg and Mansfield campuses)

To connect your android device to the wifi.

*** Please note: You are not required to connect to CU ONLINE SECURE.  You are able to follow the steps below and stop at connecting to CU ONLINE.  CU ONLINE is an encrypted network but CU ONLINE SECURE has a higher security than the CU ONLINE network does.***  

*** The screenshots in this guide were taken from a Samsung Galaxy.  Other android devices may show the menus different. ***

  1. Open settings
  2. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) Go to Connections (Some devices may show it as Network and Internet)
  3. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) Select Wi-Fi (Some devices may show it as Internet)
  4. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)To perform the setup, you will need to first connect to CU Online. However, you need to disable MAC Address Randomization before you proceed.
    1. Once you tap on CU Online you will see a gear icon.
    2. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) Select the gear icon and then click on the view more drop down menu
    3. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Scroll down until you see MAC address type and change it to “Phone MAC” or “Use Device MAC”                                                                                                        **Changing the MAC address type is an important step, do not skip it, you will have connection issues**
    4. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) You can then tap the back arrow to go back to previous screen.
  5. After changing your MAC settings, tap on the CU Online network again, you will get a popup redirecting you to “Sign in to Wi-Fi network” CU Online.  Click on the popup box to go to the Network Registration page and select the appropriate account type. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)** Make sure at this point you select the appropriate account type that you are trying to use.**

For CU Staff/Fac/Students:

  1. Select the Register this device link
  2. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) Login with your campus email credentials
  3. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) Once logged in, you will then need to fill out the registration information in the form and select Create Device.
  4. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) You will then be directed to successfully created screen with your devices MAC address and your Wi-Fi password.  You should also receive a text message at the same time with the password information.

  5. You can now go back to your phone settings à Connections (Some devices may show it as Network and Internet)à Wi-Fi (Some devices may show it as Internet) and select CU Online Secure
  6. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)You will then need to enter the password from the registration page / text message.You also will need to click on the view more dropdown and change the MAC address type to “Phone MAC” or “Use Device MAC”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                **Changing the MAC address type is an important step, do not skip it, you will have connection problems**

  7. You should now be connected to the CU Online Secure Wi-Fi network.
  8. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)If you forget your wi-fi password you can login to netreg.commonwealthu.edu from another device
    1. Click on manage devices
    2. Locate the device name that you want to look at  
    3. Select edit  
    4. You will see your Wi-Fi Password listed

***If you are still having trouble connecting your device, please visit the helpdesk or call at 877-435-7280 (option 2, 3, or 4).  Office hours are M-F 8-4:30. With the variety of devices available, visiting the helpdesk may be a better solution. ***
