How to update Zoom and the Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle

What is the Zoom Quarterly Lifecycle Policy?

Zoom enforces a new minimum version every 3 months (the first weekend of February, May, August, and November). To continue using Zoom without interruption, you will need to update to at least the minimum version required. This is required by all users on all Zoom platforms, and is outside the control of CommonwealthU.

What are the required versions?

 The next version enforcement date is February 1, 2025. On that date, the following minimum versions will be required:

 

Zoom Workplace Client

(This includes all Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux users)

5.17.5 (Windows)

6.0.2 (macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Intune)

6.0.0 (Blackberry)

Zoom Rooms (IT Admins Only)
including Zoom Room Controllers

5.16.5 (Windows, macOS, iPad, appliances, iOS and Android controllers)

VDI Client (IT Admins Only)  5.16.10
VDI Plugin (IT Admins Only) 5.15.10

The following enforcement date is May 3, 2025.

How do I update Zoom? 

Zoom Desktop Client (Windows or Mac)

 Open and Sign-in to the Zoom app for Windows or Mac

 Click your profile picture, and choose check for updates:

Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

(Note: if you don't see "Check for Updates" and are on a CommonwealthU managed device, your Zoom client will be updated automatically. No action is needed.)

 

iOS or Android Mobile App

 Download the Zoom mobile app from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

 Get it on Google Play Download on the App Store

Note: Zoom displays a mobile notification whenever there is a new update.
