All filetypes that work in Media Library and more. Mediasite uses FFmpeg to decode additional formats. The formats and codecs supported by FFmpeg frequently change. For the most up to date information, we suggest consulting the official FFmpeg documentation. Their page dedicated to file format and codec support can be found at this link.
Mediasite is set to up to 720p output for best streaming capabilities.

Video: .mp4, .avi, .f4v, .flv, .m4v, .mov, .webm, .wmv, and the ability to optimize for streaming (2GB max and up to 720p output)

Security |
By default, content is only viewable by Commonwealth University Faculty, Staff, and Students. Users can make presentations public or share with only specific groups as desired. |

Desktop Recorder |
Mediasite Mosaic Mosaic offers a simple workflow for recording narrated presentations and other computer based demonstrations including a 'talking head' video window similar to Camtasia, Captivate, Jing, etc. with no time limit, additional licensing fees, or third party outsourcing.

Please note, MacOS 10.15 or later is required and university owned Windows 10 computers must be running Windows 10 Education. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC does not support apps distributed through the Microsoft Store. Web Editor |
Mediasite includes basic editing to trim to or trim out specific sections of a video, adjusting slide content, and adding chapters. (Captioning is not included in the editor.)
To access the web editor, open the Presentation Details page of any presentation and click the "Edit Video" button to the right of the preview window.

There is a separate editor for captions. If your video includes captions, you can edit them. Find out more here.

Media Library includes basic editing to trim to or trim out specific sections of a video, add chapters, and create manual or automated captions using the editor.
To access this advanced editing, locate and open a video, and click Edit Video. Then click Advanced Editing.

Use with Zoom |
Mediasite is integrated with Zoom and can copy your Zoom recordings automatically over to the MyMediasite portal. |
Media Library is not integrated with Zoom, though you can manually upload Zoom recordings to it if necessary. |
Use in Brightspace |
Mediasite is integrated with Brightspace for seamless authentication (no extra login required). You can integrate Mediasite videos in several ways:
- Upload multiple videos to your Mediasite Course Channel to create a course playlist of videos.
- Embed videos from Mediasite using the Insert Stuff button in Announcements, Assignments, Content, Quizzes, Discussions, and other Brightspace tools that allow use of the HTML editor.
- Embed Video Quiz Assignments using the Insert Stuff button in Content.

Media Library is part of Brightspace, and must be used entirely within Brightspace.
Media Library holds all media files uploaded to Brightspace using Record Audio, Record Video, Video Note, the Content tool, or Capture App.
