The Self-Care Portal allows you to manage many of your phone system settings without contacting the Help Desk. Available options include resetting your phone PIN, configuring speed dials, managing contacts, adding additional phones, and forwarding calls.
Access the Self-Care Portal
The portal is available only when you are:
- Connected to the university network on campus, or
- Connected to the university VPN from off campus.
Visit selfcare.voip.commonwealthu.edu and sign in using your university username and password.
Available Features
Reset Your Phone and Voicemail PIN
Use the portal to change the PIN associated with your phone services, including voicemail. Enter and confirm your new PIN, then save your changes.
Configure Speed Dials
Assign frequently called numbers to available speed-dial buttons or abbreviated dialing entries. Enter a descriptive label and the complete number as it would normally be dialed.
For an outside number, enter 9 + 1 + the 10-digit phone number, including the area code. For example: 9-1-570-555-1234.
Manage Contacts
Add or update personal contacts for quick access from supported phones and applications.
Add Additional Phones
Add another phone, such as a mobile phone, to use it with your university office number. Enter the additional phone number as 10 digits only, including the area codeādo not include 9 or 1.
The additional phone can ring simultaneously when someone calls your office phone, allowing you to answer from either device. When you use the additional phone to call a campus phone, your personal number will be hidden, and the call will appear to originate from your university office phone instead.
Forward Calls
Send incoming calls to another university extension or an outside telephone number. When forwarding to an outside number, enter 9 + 1 + the 10-digit phone number, including the area code.
Remember to disable call forwarding in the portal when it is no longer needed.
Save Your Changes
Select Save, Apply, or the equivalent option after making changes. Some settings may take a few moments to appear on your phone.
Need Help?
If you cannot access the portal, do not see the expected phone, or have trouble updating a setting, submit a ticket to the Technology Help Desk. When working remotely, confirm that your VPN connection is active before reporting an access problem.
